Manchester United fans are once again praising Roy Keane’s elite mentality after his time at Old Trafford.

A video clip has emerged of the outspoken 47-year-old Irishman when he appeared on a 2013 ITV4 documentary called ‘Keane & Vieira: Best of Enemies,’ which has started to make the rounds on social media.

During the clip, Keane wasn’t overly thrilled with the praise that Sir Alex Ferguson handed down on him in his autobiography.

The legendary Scotsman, 77, said that the United legend was “covering every blade of grass” in the 1999 second-leg Champions League semi-final clash against Juventus.

And Keane looked far from impressed with his former boss’ praise.

“Stuff like that almost insults me,” he said.

“I get offended when people give quotes like that about me. It’s like praising the postman for delivering letters.”

But United fans could only sing words of praise for their tough-as-nails ex-captain.

One fan wrote: “What a player, a leader, a competitor. He must be disgusted with the s***e that goes on in the modern game. Him vs Big Pat [Patrick Vieira] used to excite me for days prior to an Arsenal v United match. Those days are dead.”

Someone else said: “He is brilliant… could start a fight in an empty house.”

A third tweeted: “I think we’d all run through a wall for this man. Cut from a different metal than the spoiled lot we got now. One tackle [from] Keane in practice and Jesse [Lingard] and Co would be set straight. The best captain the club has ever had and boy do we need another like him leading us now.”

A fourth added: “Vintage Roy Keane. He is a bit of a curmudgeon, but there is too much sycophantry in the world — many people expect a round of applause for doing the bare minimum now. It is up to others to enjoy the performances of Roy Keane and I certainly did.”

Keane, whose relationship with Ferguson became strained, said that the Scotsman had a “massive ego” at the time.
